[US Patent number 1.689.537]. Early 20th century Ame ri can vintage fire helmets & Massachusetts firefighting artifacts & memorabilia. 14 ½" Length x 11 1/4" in Width x 7 in Height. In absolutely 100% original vintage condition, untouched and undisturbed. Nearly 90-100 years old and largely as it was originally constituted. The Ame ri can firefighter from New England, who wore once this aluminum, leather and brass high eagle fire helmet, twisted and bent the outer margins of the metal wrap-around visor, to fit his own particular needs. The fire helmet is a classic one from the early to late 1930's, with the traditional form of fire helmets the famous manufacturing firm Cairn's & Brother of New York used in their production of Ame ri can fire helmets. Still present, as in much earlier models, is the embossed brass high eagle apex decorative accent, which also holds the thick leather shield in place, which is also riveted tight to the aluminum cask shell of the hat.
The leather front high shield has sewn edges and a decorative cut-out front identifying window that has three high case letters'A. D' denoting the southeastern Massachusetts fire department of Attleboro, Massachusetts. The #84 is hand painted in reflective silver paint on the rear visor. All original surfaces and paint. A magnificent and honest early 20th century Massachusetts firefighting artifact.
