The Arabic text is vocalized throughout. Headings of chapters are written in white ink on decorated strips of gold. Two leaves at the beginning of the Koran are beautifully illuminated in gold and colors. The last page of the Koran is also illuminated. All verses are separated by gold discs. Divisions of the Koran are marked in medallions in gold and colors on the margins.
There are tens of such medallions. All pages are ruled in several lines of gold and blue. It was written by the master calligrapher Muhammad an-Nuri, who was certified as a calligrapher by his teacher Muhammad al-Kharbudi in the 123? 1 of the Islamic year corresponding to 1815.Beautifully bound in full brown leather. With a flap in the traditional Islamic bookbinding. Covers are richly embossed in gilt in an arabesque design, with central medallion; the margins of a few leaves including the first two leaves and leaves number 8 and 11 are professionally repaired without loss of text, except for leaf 8 where a few letters were obliterated.
However, there are some loss of a few letters in the following pages due to careless opening of leaves: 110b, 151a, 149b, 200b, 201a and I may have missed one or two. There are also minor smudges.Despite all these defects, it is really a lovely Koran.
