Film star Janet Blair ("My Sister Eileen" [1942] and "The Fabulous Dorseys" [1947]) was born Martha Janet Lafferty in Altoona, PA and graduated from Altoona High School in 1938. For sale in this listing is the 1938 Altoona High School Horseshoe yearbook that contains photos of Janet Blair and (possibly) her student signature. I say "possibly" because there is indeed a handwritten inscription beside her photo in this book (See photo with the inscription: "Smooth sailing"). However this inscription appears to be signed "Jane" rather than Janet, so it may NOT be a signing by Janet Blair.

One hundred percent of the proceeds of this sale will go to the Blair County Genealogical Society of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. Note the close-up of Janet Blair in a group shot of the Social Dancing Club, of which she was president. The second and third photos in this posting are, of course, not from the 1939 yearbook. Film poster, and the other is a 1956 cover of "Life" magazine.

I did my best to list all the defects. There is moderate-to-heavy edge wear, particularly on the lower spine (see photo). The spine has "1939" and "AHS" written in what may be a flair pen or a paint stick (see photo). There is the remnant of a 1 inch X 1/2 inch white paper sticker near the lower left corner of the front cover (see photo).

The original owner's name is written on the front flyleaf. There are numerous handwritten student inscriptions and autographs throughout this book. For unknown reasons, the back flyleaf bears the ink-stamp of the name and address of a local confectionary store.
