Japanese Samurai Sword Katana, Signed Kanewaka, High Polish War Trophy, 27 1/4

This is a beautiful, high-polish Japanese Samurai Katana sword, signed, measuring 27 1/4. This is a surrendered War Trophy, and comes with a signed and dated letter of authenticity from the son of the Army Colonel to whom it was surrendered in Burma, in 1945. The blade is 27 1/4 inches from tip to hibaki. It is high polish with a vivid temper that has nice movement.

There are no flaws on this blade; no cracks, to rust, no pitting, no oxidation. The tang under the handle is signed, Kanewaka.

The handle is well wrapped with cord over what appears to be shark-skin or gutta-percha, with two menuki. The scabbard is fabulous; nice color, no cracks or breaks or noticeable damage of any kind, excellent condition. There is some kind of military hanger cord braided over top of the original braided cord, it is also connected to one of the hangers. Both the scabbard cord and the hanger cord are in excellent condition and well-braided/wrapped. The fittings are all matching - the drag, pommel, scabbard hanger mounts, scabbard throat, and handle are all excellent condition with perfect patina and all matching. This is one of the nicest Samurai swords I have ever seen, definitely the nicest I have ever personally owned. It would be very difficult to improve on this sword.
