From 1815 he was student of the Vienna Academy and began exhibiting in 1826. He was strongly influenced by Ferdinand Waldmueller who was the husband of his sister. Between 1826-27, the artist sojourned in Moscow and St.

Petersburg, where he had painted numerous portraits and established a good access to the court. His painterly estate belonged until the early 1990's to the collection of the Wiener Kuenstlerhaus. Works of Joseph Weidner belong to collections of various museums. Condition: good, minor rubbing, in original frame. Measurements: UNFRAMED:8,5x7,0cm/3,3x2,8in FRAMED: 12,2x9,4cm/4,8x3,7in.
